Pecos National Historical Park

Pecos National Historical Park is located in northeastern New Mexico, about 17 miles southeast of Santa Fe. The park preserves and showcases the rich history of the Pecos Pueblo and the Santa Fe Trail.

The park is situated along the Pecos River, on the site of an ancient Pueblo village. The Pecos Pueblo was one of the largest and most important communities in the Southwest between the 12th and 17th centuries. Visitors can explore the ruins of this ancient village, which include multi-story stone structures and kivas, underground ceremonial chambers.

The historical background of the park also encompasses the Spanish colonization and the Santa Fe Trail era.
